Types of washbasins

Washbasin is a very important element of every bathroom and I think that we all know that really well, but it does not mean, however, that choosing the appropriate type and model of washbasin is an easy task – nowadays sanitary ware manufacturers offer a wide selection of sinks in all possible sizes, types and shapes, which does not help to buy one. Before making any final decisions it would be wise to at least browse offers of several most renown manufacturers in order to not regret our choices later – quick decisions aren’t a good idea when arranging the apartment, because we buy every piece of bathroom furniture hoping that it will serve us for many following years, not several months or weeks. Unlike many other pieces of bathroom equipment selection of washbasins is really amazing even within the same type of sinks.

Traditional washbasins…

Basically there are two options for all those, who prefer rather traditional solutions in the bathroom: first one is a simple wall-hung washbasin (every sanitary ware manufacturer has a wide selection of such sinks in practically every size and colour) and furniture washbasins. The latter, obviously, require an underbasin cabinet to be fully functional and only such combination can be called complete. To some extent also asymmetrical washbasins are a part of this trend – they are also available as standalone sinks and as furniture washbasins. Asymmetrical washbasins, however, are recommended for rather untypically shaped bathrooms and for modern, vanguard designs – in some cases asymmetrical sinks can be also very useful for owners of small bathrooms as they are sometimes more space-efficient than any other available solution.

…and unconventional solutions

To this category belong quite interesting (when comes to the design) group of washbasins consisting basically of the following types: countertop washbasins, under counter sinks, semi-recessed basins and inset washbasins. As the names of aforementioned types imply the basic difference between them is the way how they are mounted on (or under) the counter. Such washbasins are more and more popular recently, but should be chosen carefully – their rather unusual design does not fit all types of arrangements and as such the above mentioned types of sinks are recommended for those, who want to arrange their bathrooms in an unorthodox, unique way without giving up all advantages of a functional and comfortable piece of bathroom equipment.
